Hey guys,

 

So I just pre-ordered the Gold Edition of The Crew, and was thinking about how I don't have a Crew yet...

 

The release date is December 2 of this year, so pretty soon we will be revving our engines in the open world of The Crew. If you are not familiar with The Crew, it is an open world map of the entire US, with insane amounts of customization of the cars, and yes there are a lot of cars. It also has a very strong focus on multiplayer game play. Here's a video!

 

 

Any way, let me know if you are gonna be in the game or if you have pre-ordered it yourself! I would love to set up our own crew in the game, and it could make for some fun game play.

Im picking this up for PS4, unless there is some serious interest from people in the 47th to play it on PC.

If by one time buy you mean no dlc, then no it is not a one time buy. it will have four DLC releases over the next year. Theyy will give in total 12 new cars and several tuning kits, paint schemes, license plates, and a few other small things like missions.

 

If you don't care about the extra cars than it is in no means necessary (but completely worth it).

The industry needs to do away with the concept of DLCs. They are charging more and more for them while providing less and less. We are getting to a point where DLC means after release support instead of extra content. Where are the days of expansion packs? You get almost an entire game with an expansion pack, and dependent upon the company, the expansion packs were priced at less than all DLCs combined with about 10x the content.

 

Adding in 12 cars, tuning kits that take 10 minutes to script, and vanity items is not something to charge for in my book. If it doesn't truly expand the game, then the content is mere fluff, and a shady way to drain as much money as possible out of the consumer for absolutely inconsequential amounts of effort...

My rage meter is over 9,000 right meow. Haha, but seriously don't strain yourself over the DLCs for any game. I am in love with the game from the two closed Betas I chose to participate in hence I have faith that the DLCs will satisfy me, as well as the fact that I just want to show my support for the entire game and ubisoft.

 

As far as DLC vs Expansion packs go, I think it is unfair to put all games and their DLCs into one category, as some games provide very little with their DLC, and other provide well over a games worth. Same goes for teh old expansions packs, some were great values, some were terrible. They are literally the exact same marketing techniques with different names to make them seem fresh in new games. Both require the original game, both add additional but unrequired content, both have varying prices, and both have varying qualities.

 

Now is The Crew DLC/season pass worth it? To me absolutely. Even if you don't count the fact that The Crew is revitalizing that original driving game genre for me (from some one who's first game ever was the original NFS, and has felt the more arcade racing genre slipping dramatically over the years), the DLCs alone provided enough for me already that I was willing to drop an extra $25 for the season pass as well as pre-order the game already. I will provide the complete contents of the season pass below, as honestly I dulled them down as to not make Dragon feel he had to have it in order to make the game worth while.

 

 

So that picture above was a detailed visualization of everything you will get with the season pass. Now am I telling any one they need to get it, absolutely not, it's your money and your decisions. But please, don't let your personal grudges against DLC structures in new games get in the way of enjoying and supporting what will be a great game.

This is actually one of the cool features, you can drive anywhere a regular car would be able to go within their recreated US.

I can remember having faith that the DLC's would satisfy me in another game, so much so I pre-ordered them in advance ..... we all know how that turned out don't we Trion grrr lol.

 

I'm with Striker, I would love to see the return of expansions like Guild Wars had, where each expansion could be an add-on or a stand alone game.

Defiance was bad long before the dlcs came out. They merely created extra content from the original crap.

 

I have played many games that had quality and worth while dlc.

 

Btw, can we please get back to the original topic, the crew. All this negative feedback is going to scare any one off who doesn't know about the crew. Fact of the matter is that pretty much every,game has dlc content now, like it or not, the game,industry has moved on from expansion packs and they are gone. The industry will not go back and whether anyone likes it or not it will not happen and the best we can do is enjoy the games that we love to play.

I need to pick up a gamepad or controller for this game, it is so not easy to drive using a keyboard, anyone got any recommendations?

I had to switch the controls from the arrows to WASD. some of the key mapping is just ridiculous.  if you get a gamepad tell me how it is with this game.

I'll send out friend requests on uplay. And you guys have to add me to friends as well. I am Stickman-007. Also I play with mouse and keyboard on default settings and it seems to work very well. I can't wait to play with you guys! I just hit max level last night with all I have been playing so now I can start working on my car levels and get the collectable ones .

I slid around alot when I first started as well. It takes a little while to get used to driving in the game in that cars act pretty darn realistically and you can't drive a rear wheel drive car without any good throttle control on your turns. You can change the driving difficulty in the control settings, and it amy help to start on easiest and move your way up as you get better.

 

And i hit max level because I am so pro bro. My skillz in this game be ova 9000. But, in all seriousness I love it and can't stop playing.
