Oh, and I suppose since you have a bunch of metal there I should counter with some of my own. The problem I have with a lot of Death/Thrash/Heavy metal is that it sounds great, until the guy starts "singing"/screaming/jacking off? I prefer my Power, Prog, and Symphonic Metal.

Symphonic:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubCv-kHUQ-o&feature=related]Nightwish - "Wish I had an Angel[/ame]

Power:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-TUufvK0gU]Kamelot - "Ghost Opera"[/ame]

Prog: Although it's a bit old, from 1992

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5sg8heGdyk&feature=channel]Dream Theater - "Take the Time"[/ame]

This one is much newer.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABJrkSvWEU0&feature=channel]Symphony X - "Serpent's Kiss"[/ame]

In really dig DT. They were my favorite band until I get some harder/faster metal.

I was pretty butt hurt to hear that Portnoy left DT and that the other guys wouldn't let him back in even though he kind of went behind their back and tried to be in Avenged Sevenfold after he said he needed a break.

Still, Portnoy rules.

I'm not a fan of it either. In fact, Warbringer/Machine Head is about the harshest vocal style I can stand.

I'm not a big fan of melody in my metal though. And I don't really care for melodic singers because it tapers the aggressive sound. For my money I think the best metal singer of all is without a doubt [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-rySnvAvmo]Chuck Billy from Testament[/ame]. He's amazing live, too.

The dude from Susperia is pretty sweet too.

Whenever I code I either turn on some Metal or Electronica (depending on my mood), turn the sound up and just kinda zone out from the rest of the world. It's the only way I get any work done and not stay on the internet all day.
