  2. Update 1.6 will address the balancing in the Dark Zone and The Division’s PvP mode as well as introduce a new feature, namely DZ Leaderboards. Also ETF Bravo will head over to the studio of Red Storm Entertainment at the end of next week to provide feedback on various aforementioned topics. Nothing new so far, but in the meantime dataminer iamunkn0wn decided to not wait for new information and scanned through the game files on his own. Apparently, he successfully stumbled upon some interesting bits regarding PvP and a DZ extension in the North, but before you continue reading, please note that none of the information below has been officially confirmed, so please take everything with a grain of salt. According to iamunkn0wn, the things he found weren’t there before and have been added with the latest Update 1.5, but all of that is still subject to change. PvP Arena Mode & EventsIn the past, players have always requested a PvP arena mode in addition to the current DZ PvE/PvP experience. Maybe this could become real pretty soon as some of the localizations contain text lines which definitely sound like a separated mode where a team of SHD agents seems to be fighting against Rogue Agents while each of them is able to capture zones divided into Alpha, Bravo and Charlie: "Throughout a <font preset=""Fixed Bold 32""><color name=""rogue_red"">Contamination Event</color></font> contamination zones below street level in the Dark Zone rise to deadly levels. Be on the lookout for Named Heavy Cleaners moving in to burn out the Contamination." There are also some new paragraphs showing communication between the player and a new NPC whose name is Kekich. These text lines could have something to do with the previously described game mode, or simply act as an additional event. It’s about securing SHD Tactical Terminals which apparently contain important data of SHD operations. E3 Walkthrough DemoAgent, this is Kekich. Swing by when you get a chance. We’ve got these SHD tactical terminals left behind in the Dark Zone. They’re loaded with heavy duty operational data, and we need to get to that data before any Rogue agents get the chance. We’re gonna need your help with this one. Securing SHD Tactical Terminals? Sounds very familiar if we think back to the PvP mode that was exclusively showcased at E3 and gamescom where 4 teams with 4 players each tried to extract SHD Tech at Bryant Park. It was almost perfect, was very balanced and made a lot of fun! But this wasn’t all. Dark Zone and Central Park?In case you have ever visited the Dark Zone and explored the map boundaries in the North to DZ07 where the Central Park begins, you probably have seen the one or other object directly placed behind the fence. We initially thought that Survival could extend the Dark Zone, but since that wasn’t the case, maybe 1.6 or the Last Stand DLC could be candidates for unlocking these new areas. Speaking about Last Stand and despite the rumors some are trying to spread, there is still no confirmation on whether the paid DLC will be released together at the same time with Update 1.6, or in a separated update. Sure, it might make sense, but to avoid confusion that’s the current official state on this. Anyway, back to topic and the Central Park. Additional subtitles could let us assume that there will be much more to explore, especially when you read about “unlocking the gates that lead north towards Central Park”. Agent, we’ve started pushing further into the Dark Zone. We’re unlocking the gates that lead north towards Central Park. I need you to get up there to do a little recon. Let me know what you see, and stay safe. It’s not exactly friendly territory. […] Look, there’s no room. There’s just no room any more. The park is full. They can’t keep up with the dying. The transport trucks are dumping bodies outside and… and headed back for more. Jesus, I’ve never seen so much death. They have to seal it off. No one should ever see this… […] I mean if you get a decent gas mask, maybe some hand sanitizer- you could find some serious shit in there. If they can’t even bury ’em, they sure as hell aren’t going through the pockets. But that doesn’t have to stop us. Last but not least 4 new PMC (Private Military Company) Outfits have been added in addition to the free beanies that were given away during the holidays. Current Outfit-DLCs contain 4 outfits, so chances are high that these will become available through another paid or free DLC pack. As mentioned at the beginning, none of this information is confirmed. We also don’t know which content belongs to which update (1.6, or Last Stand) or if it’s even up-to-date. What’s your opinion on that? Do you like the idea of having another, more separated PvP mode and side missions in the Dark Zone? 6. The year 2016 is almost over, but before that and in addition to the recently released Let it Snow and Parade Pack, the developers want to thank all agents out there and wish happy holidays by giving away two pom pom beanies for free. Make sure to grab them by logging in between now and December 31st. You can then get them from your Rewards Claim Vendor in the Base of Operations. If you have missed the last State of the Game, you can watch it here. It was also the last episode in this year. The developers will be back in 2017 with new information on Update 1.6 (ETF Bravo), the last expansion Last Stand and hopefully more content for year 2. This week’s maintenance has finally fixed the balcony problem with Larae Barrett. It’s now safe to attack her as soon as she comes down as the loot will always drop in front of you in case she gets killed up there. Fixed an issue that could unexpectedly lead to long queuing times when match making in a group for Survival. Fixed a bug where Larae Barrett’s loot would get stuck on the Balcony. Now if she is killed on the Balcony, the loot will spawn by the player. 14. The application for ETF Bravo has ended today! A team of lucky players will meet in January 2017 at the studio of Red Storm Entertainment to talk about the future of the Dark Zone, which was the main topic in today’s State of the Game episode. Therefore, nobody else than Creative Director Terry Spier and Lead Designer Keith Evans – both are working at Red Storm – have joined Hamish Bode to share some new information on the next steps. PS4 Pro SupportThe Survival DLC will be released for PlayStation 4 next week Tuesday, December 20th and at the same time, The Division will officially start to support the PS4 Pro. We have already talked about it a couple of weeks ago and while no further details on what this actually means are known yet, an update for the Pro version could, in theory, bring 60 FPS, 4K-upscaled gaming and HDR. Update 1.6 with Focus on DZ and PvPWe already know that Update 1.6 will be fully focusing on improving the experience in the Dark Zone and the PvP mode in The Division. While some people claim that Last Stand – the third major expansion – will be part of this update, there is still no official information that actually confirms this rumor. We somehow doubt that this will be the right time for the release of the last paid DLC, but stay tuned! 1.4 and 1.5 have drastically improved the PvE gameplay, which why the goal of the developers for Update 1.6 is to deliver the same enjoyment for the PvP mode, by making it more competitive and intense. To achieve this, the gap between casual and pro players should be narrowed so that the feeling of having a chance against other players is always present, even when losing fights. As mentioned before, the new Elite Task Force will play an essential part in this rebalancing process. Good luck to everyone who has applied! Invitation mails will be sent out during the next week, so make sure to check your spam folders regularly in the next days. Dark Zone Leaderboards1.6 will introduce leaderboards for players in the Dark Zone. When entering a checkpoint to the DZ, monitors will allow you to track your progress and compare it with other players. Activities like clearing Landmarks, cutting ropes, extracting items, Manhunts and so on will be tracked on a Weekly and Monthly basis. Completing these activities will give you points, sometimes even more on certain days and when reaching a predefined amount of points per activity or the end of a – let’s call it season, you will be rewarded with new types of Caches that will also find their way into the next update. In addition to the currently existing DZ Rank, a new system based on reward tiers will additionally define what rewards you can get. All statistics will be resetted every time the end of such a period is reached, to ensure a fresh and fair start for all players who decide to compete and participate in a new round of DZ madness! 15. Tom Clancy’s The Division will be available for free to play on PC this weekend, from December 15th to 18th. If you haven’t tried it out yet or would like to compare it to the console version, this is your chance to do so! Although the contents of the Season Pass won’t be accessible, there is plenty of stuff to do, starting from playing through an intense story and exploring Manhattan to completing assignments, Incursions and competing against other players in a mixed PvE/PvP environment, called the Dark Zone. You basically just need a PC that is good enough to meet the game’s requirements. At the same time, the game will be on sale with a -50% discount on Standard and Gold Edition (includes Season Pass). More information about this offer can be found in the Uplay client or the Ubisoft Store. The Free Weekend will begin at 06:00 PM GMT on December 15th and will end at 09:00 PM GMT on December 18th. Also worth to mention is that your newly created character(s) would carry over once you have upgraded to the full game. What are you waiting for? The preload has already begun! In case the link isn’t working, you will probably have to download and install the Uplay client first. See you in New York City, Agent! 21. We still don’t know much about The Division’s third and last major expansion DLC called “Last Stand“. It’s supposed to come out somewhere early 2017 as part of the Season Pass and that some kind of horde mode or base building could be involved. However, the release of a Season Pass for year 2 – at least DLCs, seems to be almost confirmed at this point according to an entry in the curriculum vitae of an Environment Artist who’s currently working at Ubisoft Reflections. Tom Clancy’s The Division – Year 2 DLC (Currently in Development) – Ubisoft Reflections – PS4/Xbox ONE/PC It wouldn’t be a surprise if Ubisoft is thinking about expanding the universe of Tom Clancy’s The Division in the upcoming year(s). The potential to improve the game is simply huge and future DLCs (free and/or paid) could bring new story missions, map areas, raids, PvP arena; just to name a few of them. With the recent call for the return of a new Elite Task Force in January to address critical topics around the Dark Zone and PvP, there is currently also a The Division movie in production, starring Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal. They clearly haven’t given up yet if you also consider their decision about delaying paid content to overhaul the game through the in September released Update 1.4. Furthermore, development studios like Massive Entertainment are constantly looking for new people to join their team to work on The Division. We will probably have to wait 3 or 4 months longer for an official confirmation on an actual plan for year 2, so please take this information with a grain of salt. But in case this proves to be true, what type of content would you like to see in new DLCs/a new Season Pass? 22. Today’s maintenance has fixed a bug where players weren’t able to collect the reward for completing all side missions. Furthermore a new performance patch for PC players as well as the return of a new Elite Task Force with focus on the DZ and PvP have been announced in the State of the Game stream. PC Performance PatchWith Update 1.5, a couple of really annoying performance issues have found their way into the game, primarily, but not only affecting the PC platform. That’s why a new PC only patch is scheduled to go live somewhere next week. It will address the following problems: 100% CPU usage (as a quick fix you could try to lower The Division’s process priority in your Task Manager for now) Loss of character control Xbox Controller that causes crashes In addition, the patch will unlock the already on the PTS seen DirectX 12 Renderer option. While this should also boost the performance, especially on systems with higher resolutions, you will not be able to change the brightness anymore when it’s activated. An option for that will be provided at a later date. Known IssuesAs mentioned before, also consoles are recently suffering from FPS drops, stuttering and freezes. The developers are investigating on this. Unfortunately, also the First Aid healing delay is back in the game. Update 1.4 seemed to have fixed the problem, but obviously something is still there that prevents the system from working corretly. The developers are asking for videos or any kind of footage that could help to reproduce the problem. You can post it in the official Technical Support forum. The newly added weapon Famas with the Weapon Talent Uncomplicated is causing an issue when used in combination with the AlphaBridge Gear Set. Uncomplicated is also considering the attached Stability and Accuracy Weapon Mods of the secondary equipped Assault Rifle, resulting in a higher damage loss than it should be (should only consider the weapon you are currently using). Last but not least the still existent spawning problem with the Riker’s boss LaRae Barrett in Lexington Event Center. Due to the missed opportunity to fix this bug with the second hotfix deployment last Friday, the leader of the Rikers can still decide to go back up to the balcony from where you can’t access the loot anymore once she is dead. True, there is a small chance to get it through the wall when going back to the beginning of the mission, but that’s not really the solution. To avoid triggering this problem at the moment, you should let come her out of the room first and then start attacking her, otherwise aforementioned scenario could be triggered. Since Update 1.5, Barrett has been killed more than 2.85 million times, which makes the same named item Barrett’s bulletproof vest currently to one of the most wanted Named Gear Items. 23. Players who are there since day one might have already heard of the so called ETF, new ones probably not. The Elite Task Force is a group of 13 passionated players like you and me who helped out Ubisoft Massive in September to make The Division great again with Update 1.4 – one of the biggest and most important updates ever since launch. Because the first one was a huge success for the developers as well as the community, a group of new players will return in January 2017 to join the game’s dev team in another 3-day long and intensive workshop. The focus will be on improving the experience in the Dark Zone and the balancing of the PvP mode and apparently these changes will have an impact on the next big Update 1.6. On a side note, the developers created a huge poster as a tribute for the first members. You can find it on the right side when exiting the Base of Operations. It’s again your chance to directly share your ideas and honest opinions about certain topics with the development team, this time however in the USA at the studio of Red Storm Entertainment in Morrisville, North Carolina, from January 11th – 13th. You don’t need to be a famous person or a content creator like a YouTuber or streamer to be eligible, it’s enough to have at least some hours of gameplay experience to know what’s going on in the middle of Manhattan – everybody has a chance to go there! If you don’t want to miss that opportunity, check out the requirements and fill out the form linked down below. You’ll need to be available from January 11th – 13th 18+ years old and have a valid passport All expenses like flights, hotel and food are paid by Ubisoft They are accepting submissions from now on.
