Gotta admit, I stumbled across some commercial for this game on YouTube and it has me highly intrigued. It's basically the largest and most open virtual sandbox I've ever seen and you can do... well, basically anything in it.

It uses a real cash economy with a fixed exchange rate of 10 PED to $1.00 USD. Some dude makes $20,000 per month running a mall. No lie. I've always been into the sandbox thing and the reviews of the game I've read are very bipolar. Total love or total hate, no inbetween whatsoever.

I almost want to create an account and download the client but I'm not sure. I haven't been able to find any professional reviews on the game.

Here's a link to the EU website (http://www.entropiauniverse.com/) if ya wanna check it out. Plus sometime this year they are switch to the Crysis engine which will be absolutely gorgeous. Oh, the game is free as well.

The game may be free, but everything and I mean everything costs in game currency, which amounts to real life currency. I am also tempted to try it out, but the thought of being a total noob in orange noob suit farming animal crap and sweating (literally) for cash at first doesn't sound so appealing. But playing that kind of game would justify MMO time wasting I suppose.

Yeah, I never really got hooked into it or similar games like SecondLife based on the fact that i'm going to have to spend money on it eventually. Monthly fees for a game or two aren't bad but I dont want to throw it at games like that... not to mention I wouldn't have a whole lot of time to make it worth it anyway.

Definitely why I quit playing. I realized that just to have fun and do what I wanted would take $50-200 per month. A damn pair of jeans in that game costs more than a RL designer pair. I'm not shitting you. Jeans in EU cost like $200.00 real money and I can march my ass to the Mall of America and get a pair from Jimmy Z for like fifty.

LOL

Jeeze, I didn't know it was that bad... but i'm glad I never wasted the time to find out for myself, heh.
