Hi everybody!

This week we'll dive deep into the looting system of Earthrise. We were asked in this post (http://forums.play-earthrise.com/index.php?topic=152.msg19548#msg19548), "Will your looting system have a complete physical loot system? I kill them they are dead on the ground I want their boots and their vest and belt." and here's our answer:

Earthrise will introduce a full loot system with several major protection mechanisms where players who come victorious in PvP combat can take everything their victim has, as long as their victim has not (a) insured the item; or (b) pays a sizable sum to retrieve an item from his corpse. This includes not only inventory but worn equipment as well, with the only exclusion of certain types of items that are specific to the PvE experience. While players can re-insure their protected items upon recreation of their next clone, insurance of new items can only be done at specific populated places throughout Enterra, not too few to make insurance spots unapproachable but also not too many to make it so widespread that anything is insured minutes after its acquisition. This creates interesting situations where players who acquire loot from other players but fail to protect it will often lose it minutes after in the hands of their own killer. Full loot is a double-edged sword and we want players to feel it as such, rather than as a tool in their own benefit.

However, even if your victim's equipment is insured, dedicated PvP players won't be left empty-handed. When a player kills another player, he receives monetary income, portion of the victim's insurance cost. So the killer will earn money from his victims even when he cannot take their items, he will receive money needed for insurance of his own items. This is a balancing feature for siege territory battlefields where within hours players may die multiple times and have their insurance fund depleted and themselves forced out of combat because they cannot take the risk of entering combat with no insured items.

And that's what we've got for this week. Tell us what you think in the thread below.
