So 1.7 just ignited a firestorm of dev bashing on PlanetTR. Like, every short coming in the game has completely come to head. It's totally turned into an off the hook, steel cage, FFA Battle Royale.

As my favorite childhood wrestler, Razor Ramon, used to say, "What are you looking at, chico?"

It is not a good time to be a TR dev right now. I kind of feel for Critters. Obviously as the PR person she get's the bulk of the shitfest directed at her when we all know she like zero input into what the producer chooses to do.

Still though, yikes. Navigate PlanetTR at your own risk.

Edit: Btw, we've almost hit 2k posts. Go 47th.

I don't know if things improved after launch, but things were like this back in beta too. Only difference is the disgruntled people were threatening with not buying, rather than canceling.

Serious threats from the beta boards:
-Make netguns hit hard again or ranger will be useless and I'll quit.
-Add /liedown and /sit or the roleplay viability of the game will be crippled. (hint: trrp)
-Make the game soloable and I'll quit / force grouping and I'll quit.

Now, I'm not saying there aren't problems with this most recent patch. Things may need to change. I am saying, though, sometimes the community goes on witch hunts that either don't solve anything or are aimed at the wrong targets.

Bad community? Maybe, but that's just the way these particular forum communities are. Best thing I can say to anyone wanting to get their point across to the devs is to be careful with how things are said. If it appears that they are trying to encourage people to do <x> by changing <y>, then tell them exactly how they are going about it the wrong way.

No, this is definitely not a witch hunt. TR has lost half of it's subscriber base since 01 DEC. And that only takes into account the sub losses from then until 01 MAR. The sub losses between 01 MAR and now are completely unaccounted for.

It's not a witch hunt. At all. There are a lot of valid reasons for not playing TR. I should know.

Right now the best way to predict the next action by the devs is to assume that Destination Games is being secretly manipulated by a malevolent entity who wants Tabula Rasa to fail miserably.

At least, that's how it seems to me. . .

Heck, I'd say there's valid reasons to play it, even though I quit after beta because I didn't feel like playing. Anyone can validate an opinion, but that really doesn't amount to anything in the end. Changes have been made, but things seem pretty normal for a patch week-- to me, at least.

In the end though, they really do need to make up their minds about what they want and how they want it. They really do need to add some endgame, and they really do need to get whatever the hell they're doing done fast. This is assuming they're aiming for people to stick around for seasons at a time. It could very well be in the plans to just be a simple game people play for a little while and move on-- hopefully to another NCSoft title.

I do remember something about what cuppajo said in an interview, though. I don't remember the exact words, but the question was "what do you have planned for endgame?" Her response was... less than spectacular. Something about cloning lets people keep playing the game.

As for the game dying the same way Autoassault died? I highly doubt it. Look who Richard Garriot's brother is.

Ps- further info on Autoassault. Autoassault was closed just before Tabula Rasa went live, and the remaining subscribers to Autoassault were given access to Tabula Rasa and/or City of Heroes. Shortly after that was done, the infamous Feedback Friday about PAUs and Flashpoints was posted.

Coincidence? You decide. What does it mean? You decide.

i disagree with the idea that its been the same all along (as far as angry gamers are concerned). ive surfed PTR plenty of times and never seen it that bad. seriously negative response in general to 1.7 is like 6 threads deep.

I'm putting all my money on SWG dev team from SOE.

Somehow, in some way, Smedley is behind this.
