Some interesting changes...
They changed the perceived threat ranges. pump 4 is now only 60%.
The pistol seems to fire at a higher rate.
I just put my 4th mod on some of my armor items so they got that working.
My crafter now has a ghetto bootie which is reason enough for me to keep sub'ing.

Thats about all ive discovered so far.

There's been a lot of talk around the usual Tabula Rasa forums as well as here about people leaving for AoC, Guild Wars, Earthrise, and so on. With the release of the 1.7 patch, that trend seems to be increasing.

I will not leave Tabula Rasa. I've decided to stay and see to the well-being of the 47th AFSEF. New members continue to join, and someone has to be here for them.

Im going to keep my sub up and I will be popping in from time to time to chech the MS or maybe do a couple CP's but I started playing DDO so I will be there for most of my time until TR gets some new content. Ill definitely be back when they start the Clan CP's.

I'm loving the changes. Heresy I know, but it's the truth.

I'm for anything that encourages people to sit back and say "hey, this is pretty hard. Maybe I should find someone to do this with."

Oh lord, DDO: decent instances, but way too easy to hit the max level. It only took me 3 weeks to hit the cap back when I played, and I'm no sort of power gamer.

Still though, I had a pretty good RP guild there (Thelanis, Crimson Nexus) that added a lot of depth to it. Not a bad game overall. Lot like Tabula Rasa with its combat system and instances.

Forget DDO, jump into Guild Wars with us. Don't even need to pay for a sub.

Assuming I will manage to have time to do stuff while I am in the process of graduating, I'll be online. Sometime... I did just upgrade my version and re-skill myself. Me and My Chaingunner buddy plan on running around with shredder ammo on and see how that goes

So where do we go from here, then? I've pretty much decided that I'll be the last one left in Tabula Rasa to turn out the lights when it all winds down. I'd like to go on carrying the torch for the 47th, but with the rest of the leadership off doing something else and posting on other forums that the 47th has buggered off, I don't think I have the authority to speak for the 47th anymore. Besides which, this web server belongs to someone else.

Right?

So I'm in limbo. Do I have sanction to carry on in the name of the 47th and continue to recruit and accept new members, or has the 47th given up on Tabula Rasa?

It's up to you, top. If you want to soldier on under the 47th banner that's fine by me. Like I said in my post in the Command Bulletin I'll be keeping the site and Vent going all through the waiting to Earthrise.

If something good happens with TR I'll gladly resub.

All that aside, I don't want to see the band break up. It's part of the reason I switched to Guild Wars over Neocron.

If TR is really what you want to do and you want to stick with the 47th let me know and we can do some admin stuff to get things up and running and smooth for you.

I've been regaining my social life over the last few months, but it's probably going to drop off rediculously when GTA IV comes out tonight. With my internet still down, I don't really have any need to even turn on my computer. I'll probably leave my TR sub open for a few months or so, even if it is just to log on an say hello to people and participate in events, but I honestly don't see myself coming back to the game unless there's a massive addition that gives me something to do.

I'm pretty burnt out on MMOs for the time being, so I don't think I'll be getting into GW again, but the 47th is one of the best guilds I've gotten into without knowing someone first, and whereever it ends up, I plan on being right beside the rest of you.

Well, I'm just suspending my account not going to get rid of it. I really like TR, its just kind of boring right now with nobody to play with and nothing really to do once you hit level 50. I've leveled all the other toons up into there 30's and one mid 40's and a level 50...thus I've tried to stay occupied as long as I can and experience new skills and content and have run out. I am enjoying playing GW, TR is a much better game IMO, but its no fun when there is nobody to talk to. The last few weeks I played TR I was online 80% of the time by myself. Looking for groups to run instances at mid level 30's took hours (wasn't like that a few months ago). So to me it just looks like everybody is heading out and we have the release of new MMO's coming here in the near future, I just don't see TR having enough player base to make the game fun. So until the release of pvp control points I probably wont be online. I would like to stay in the 47th don't see any reason to kill the clan....I will be back someday.

I'd like to, but that means I'd need the authority to recruit for the 47th in TR, and the knowledge that I won't be undermined in that effort by postings on other sites which indicate that we've given up.

I really like what you've done with the 47th so far. It's a helluva organization, and the polish in the website, the TRADOC content, and so on really make the place shine. I won't discard that and start making up Barbie Horse Adventures bullshit that detracts from what's been done so far.

And I'll need to know who I can count on to work with me in TR, and who is MIA. That can be addressed in another thread inside the secure part of the forum.

I tried GW but I didnt like it. Since playing TR and some other games Ive become a graphics snob and GW just wasnt "pretty" enough for me. DDO has good graphics, good story, good system, etc. They have a tiered instance system with 4 levels... solo, normal, and two harder ones. DDO is just more my style. If it was scifi it would be better but I can cope till Earthrise comes out. I DO wish I had some people to group with so if any of you decide GW isnt for you I am on the Sarlona Server under Terren Sensbane.

The only thing to be careful about in DDO is the same thing in Tabula Rasa: don't level too quickly. There is some limited end game in DDO, but (10-man is like a massive raid there) you're going to end up grinding the same instances over and over for loot (and possibly just for experience: 4 tiers means 4 runs through). Just vorpal gear is like a 1/100 chance in some very tough chests. Overall a fun game, and with the right people it has some of the best instances out there. Too bad (when I played) there is absolutely nothing to do other than run instances.

PS- Unless they changed it, solo is only in the markets and docks instances. Don't base any part of your plans around solo play.

I just took a look at Neocron and Im downloading the trial. Looks kinda cool. Has anyone tried it? Any opinions on the game?

Neocron seemed awesome. Not the best graphics in the world but it's basically a much more complex version of Deus Ex. You get an apartment, vehicles, lots of actions.

Like Bladerunner as an MMO basically.

Just one hitch: all servers are located in Germany. Good luck playing a FPS with a 450ms ping:(

So I just spent a couple hours in Maw doing CP's and hitting up the normal bosses and all that. First they killed the drop rate of purples on the usual bosses so its pretty much back to normal. They drop greys and greens and only occasionally blues and purples. The AI changes they made have made the game much harder. The bane fire fast and hard without the weird hesitation they used to have. They also dont have the odd pauses they used to have mid combat. I killed a few striders and I would say they definitely react faster. They get on your ass pretty quickly. When I was assaulting the CP's I actually had to use my flamer. I usually just bomb away with my grenade launcher but the bane are tougher now and I needed the dps. The bane are so tough now they had to hotfix the game to increase the weapon dmg by 20% across the board except chainguns and TSRs. Chainguns got a 10% increase and the TSR got nothing. I would say this is a step in the right direction for TR but its still not enough for me to play much. I have tougher mobs to fight but still nothing to do.

Wash

Oh they did add a couple new models for the CP bosses.

Yeah, and I'm feeling the pain of those lack of TSR damage upgrades.

Even with CS 5 on I sometimes don't one shot trash mobs. I have to make sure I have rage 3 and TP on, and be more than 60m away. It hurts. Still like it better than how TSR's used to be pre-1.5 or whatever

So Howling Maw CP's are no longer soloable for grenadiers. You can no longer use RB to get up on to the walls and you cant take the shield down before you get multiple respawns. By the time you kill the respawns the shield is fully regened. The shield now takes a lot more dmg so you wont be killing it with 8-10 shots from a Launcher. I was at least 20 shots in to it and I only had it down a third of the way. Since we cant RB up on to the Mortars anymore we are pretty much SOL for taking CP's.

I don't think CP caps were evere suppose to be soloable.

Sat, 03 May 2008, 11:23
nah, they've just kept them soloable for so long people expect them to remain that way.

Granted, I'm all for change.

I prefer them to be soloable. Im not saying I dont want them hard and for them to take a long time to get but I do think any class should be able to take one solo. Just my opinion.
