I know a lot of people are always looking for some very specific program that fills some role so for all of those really awesome but perhaps not well known progs I've created this thread. They are all freeware.
I have four to submit:
Daemon Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/announcements.php)
This program is crazy awesome. Basically, if you download a lot of stuff like I do and it comes in iso, bin, cue, or some other disk image format you're usually stuck burning it onto a disk and then running the disk. No more! Daemon Tools allows you to "mount" disk image files onto a virtual drive. Once the image is mounted a new drive will appear and whatever is in the image will be loaded up and ready to go for ya. Super handy.
uTorrent (http://utorrent.com/)
A very lite bit torrent downloading program. It has a tiny memory footprint and is loaded with tons of features. Best of all no advertising.
Spybot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html)
Great anti spyware program and the nice thing about is that it has a TeaTimer which blocks other programs from messing with your registry. It also has a nice startup programs feature which lets one select and deselect which programs launch at Windows startup. Very hand.
Avast Anti-Virus (http://www.avast.com/)
I've been using it for a long time and it's never failed me. Never had a major virus and whenever I was doing something naughty it always saved my ass right away. What's nice is that monitors web connections and if something bad pops through the pipe it'll block that page and break the connection immediately. The footprint is pretty good too.
