I'm currently obsessed with Faith No More's "Angel Dust" album. Specifically "Everything's Ruined," "A Small Victory," and "Crack Hitler."

To answer your next question, yes, "Crack Hitler" is a song about a crack head who thinks he's Hitler. Genius.

FNM suck?

/dies

Mike Patton is like the greatest vocalist ever. This is science.

If you like MegaDave I highly recommend his latest effort, "United Abominations." Killer thrash album and easily his best since probably Youthanasia. And if you like thrash in general check out Trivium's "The Crusade." Or just search you tube for "Trivium - Entrance of the Conflagration" and prepare to be floored.

And Testament finally pried Skolnick away from Trans Siberian Orchestra to cut a new album which is nearly complete. Drops in April I think. Supposed to be some totally rad thrash and I'm lookin' forward to it. I always dug the hell out of Chuck Billy's vocals. Better than Papa Het's anyways. Well, maybe not Papa Het on Live Sh*t Seattle '89 but on the whole better.

oh man i love FNM, personally though im more of a post Jim Martin FNM fan, though Angel Dust is my favorite LP from them. Favorites off of it are Malpractice, and Jizzlobber. King For A Day is a close second to Angel Dust. And yes Mike Patton is the greastes vocalist ever.

http://www.geocities.com/huhidk/MikePatton.jpg

what I cant get off my playlist is a band from here in Houston called The Jonbenet. Not sure how to describe it...metalcore? with tinges of converge, clutch, traditional punk, blues..eh idk....sooo good.

Malpractice is awesome; especially that little melodic section after the breakdown like three or four minutes to the song. Plus the lyrical content is just so perverse... a chick who goes to the gyno just so she can get some vag play... ROFL

LMAO OMG I said I like OLD Megadeath and Metalica -- not modern crap -- atm I prefer Tool or Korn(mostly Korn) or Nickleback(because Mak makes me listen to them) or Disturbed or Drowning Pool(too bad they lost cause now) but I was just picking on Mak to get her in trouble -- she never said they suck but she did comment about the age business.

I barely own any music, so most of it I listen to, I listen to on Pandora. I have one station that is set to Iron Maiden songs so I just listen to that. I get anything from Metallica to Kiss to Dio on that.

Yeah, all of the bands and their albums that I listed basically sound like 80s thrash bands. And United Abominations is awesome. Illegally download it and listen. You won't regret it. And half of Trivium's "The Crusade" sounds like it came straight off of MOP or Lightning.

That Trivium singer's voice was pretty darn good for metal. My preferred music is 60's, 70's and 80's classic rock like Blue Oyster Cult. Listen to Shooting Shark followed by Take me away, I've always liked those 2 together.

Just to pull this thread out of the week old pile of forgotten about stuff...

I've come to the conclusion that Power Metal is the best thing ever to do homework to. It's so up-tempo, I can easily forget about how boring the homework is, and not want to kill myself with all the damn logic work I have.

If there was any song I could have play on the fly when I'm doing stuff (and other people would have to hear it too) it would be "Hearts on Fire." I'd be so motivated to do stuff like all of the time.

Seriously, I'd have some term paper I'd have to do and then bam, "Hearts on fire... strong desire..." and I'd be all like, "Drrraaaagggooooo!!!!" as I crushed a picture of him stuck to a mirror and then somehow in all of that I'd write like the best term paper ever and people would lift me up on their shoulders and than I'd bang like three chicks at once while drinking a bottle of Sammy Hagar's tequila while Sammy is in the background being all, "Way to go Kav, way to go."

Sweet...

Right now I'm cruisin' through Testament's new album. Doesn't hit shelves until the 29th but you can download it already. It's pretty good. Not quite thrash metal like I was expecting and somehow there are very few good riffs but it's still good on the whole. Skolnick is amazing. Great solos.

Edit: Oh, song fact about "While You See a Chance." Know that really iconic synth intro? Yeah, the song originally had a drum solo for an intro but Winwood accidentally deleted that portion of the recording during the final edit. He only had like that afternoon to work in a new intro and bam, that's the origin of that wicked synth intro.

That song is awesome. I guess I have to buy the damn album now to see what the rest of it is like.

I love the triplets at the front of the solo.

Or you could just download this zip file (http://47th.info/music/metallica_deathmagnetic_320kbps.zip) which has the entire album in 320 kbps mp3 format. If you're really an audiophile I've recently acquired the Guitar Hero III cuts of the album tracks in flac format which are really nice. The album was mastered to sound like a brick wall (i.e. loud as fuck) so the fidelity of the master is actually pretty bad. There's a lot of clipping and that's actually the final album mix which is... disappointing to say the least.

That being said, Death Magnetic is easily their best album since Justice and I'd rank it as their third best album overall in my Metallica power rankings (which are as follows, greatest to worst: Justice, MoP, Death, Lightning, Kill'em, Load, ReLoad, St. Anger, Black).

My favorite tracks off Death Magnetic are "That Was Just Your Life," "The End of the Line," "Suicide & Redemption (Instrumental)," and my personal favorite "All Nightmare Long" which has a brutally heavy and fast sequence before the coda.

Really though, the entire album is solid. I wouldn't say any song is bad though the single they led the album with, "The Day That Never Comes," is probably the weakest track on the whole album. This is the album that should have been made after Justice.

@ Cooke:
OMG, that Rilo Kiley is the bitch who completely ripped off George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord!!!" Ugh, I heard that song at the Mall of America and vowed that if I ever ran into that artist in person I'd punch her right in the tit for stealing such an iconic riff and making a horrible song out of it!

I'd do her first though...

Anyways, here's the song for comparison. The ripoff is so fucking blatant.

You can listen to the entire album on their MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/gunsnroses). I just started. Opinions later.

Update: Wow, I'm just three songs in and pretty blown away. It's like... really, really good. Major props to BucketHead for his shreddin'. My favorite so far is definitely "Better."

Update x2: Finished the album and gave it a little time to digest. It's good. I definitely liked the first half more than the second but my favorite song might be "Riad N'The Bedouins." Overall I'd say it's way better than I had expected and Axl's voice is surprisingly awesome throughout.

Man, so I've been going full bore with metal for like... for a few months now. Oh, how I missed it so! I remember back in September during the state fair I had picked up my (now ex) GF to go to the fair and I had Machine Head's The Blackening all fucking cranked up in the car when I shut it off.

So we get in, I start the car, and the track is like five seconds before the song just explodes in awesome sauce (track: "Clenching the Fists of Dissent," which is such an amazing song btw) and she's like, "What the fuck? Since when did you listen to metal?" And I'm like, "Since always, biyatch. Now shut the fuck up!" as I cranked the volume to "ear shattering."

See, before that I was all listening to just 80s stuff because that's what I had gotten into since I started bartending at a friend's restaurant and he let me select the music when I worked. Cool guy btw, has his own band and almost made it big with his old band "Friends Like These" which still see some radio play. I have a sneaking suspicion that Nova probably recognizes that name.

Anyways, I've come across some more really awesome thrash metal goodness in UK based band Evile. Link to their MySpace page here (http://www.myspace.com/evileuk). It's really fucking good thrash and old school as hell but not like 1985 thrash old school. More like 1989 thrash old school and I like it a lot more than that kind of punk-ish Kill'em All sound.

I also managed to find a band called Onslaught which I've downloaded the album for. Haven't got around to listening to it yet (still currently being blown away by Evile's Enter the Grave).

So check it out!
