Just wanted to ask the 47th if they had any recommendations for a sweet headset/mic. I've never really had one for an MMORPG but once TOR kicks in I definitely want to get in on the channels (GW2 anyone as well? maybe?). Thanks!

I don't recommend any mic/headset I've ever used. Cav, Drac or Campbell can fill you in on why.

I can't recommend a headset either. I simly don't like em with the microphone there. I use Senheiser 160 digital wireless headphones (the 180 are identical, more expensive but come with an artistic charging station) and a pretty common logitech boom mic.

I use http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000H0IDUW, but it doesn't look like Amazon is selling it directly anymore. I 've used it for over 2 years now and never had a problem. So I recommend a Sennheiser with a mic attached. The only problem I've ever had is that it pinches my ears onto the my glasses, so I have to put my glasses above my ears when I wear them for a long time. No real problem, I'm sure it just looks funny.
Also, I wanted to say that you shouldn't be cheap with headsets and mic's. You'll be using them a lot so you should get comfortable ones that have good sound quality. If you get a cheap 30 dollar set you will get what you pay for. Also, try not to crush, destroy, eat, or otherwise kill your headset. Don't leave it on the floor for it to be rolled over, or stepped on.
I have a friend who can't seem to keep a mic alive for longer than a few months because he always finds a way to destroy it.

I'm with Campbell, a good set of headphones, and a cheap stand alone mic.

What problems do you guys find you have with Headphone/mic combo's?

The overal quality is always lower than its individual components. Its like when you buy a DVD TV combo, or a prebuilt PC, the quality of the components is always low to save the manufacturer money. Personally, I hate having a mic there getting in the way when I'm not using it even if it can be folded up. I've never had one that I could position comfortably either. I use my headphones for all my media as well so I don't want I mic getting in my way.
Like a lot of things in life, money will fix a lot of the above issues, but I prefer to buy individual components of certifiable quality rather than a combo unit where I can't control the sub components.

All fair points. I don't use my headset all the time, and the mic doesn't seem to get in my way too often, but YMMV. Overall I like mine, but I'm willing to bet your headset alone is betting quality than mine.
I have a good 5.1 surround sound speaker set up when I don't need the headphones, so I didn't have to worry about getting the BEST ones, although mine are still pretty good. Looks like my headset was quite a bit cheaper than Campbells (although if he got it on sale, who knows what the price would be), so his sound quality is probably tons better than mine. I wanted wired though, cause I don't like having to charge the things. The only thing I use that's wireless is a mouse. So who knows, maybe the wireless adds a lot to the price in order to keep quality up.
I never hear myself over teamspeak so I can't talk about the quality of the mic. I've never had anyone complain, but if you've found any problems my voice quality, use that to make a decision.
Like I said, if you get a cheap 30-50 dollar headset, the mic will probably be in an annoying place and the whole thing might fall of your face or something. Get something in the 100+ range at least (Or at least would be at that price if it weren't on sale). I think I bought mine for 90 bucks with the price originally around 140 or something.

Check out the Alienware TactX Headset. Kinda pricey, but I love mine. Very comfortable, excellent sound quality, and the microphone rolls up into the left headphone for when you are not using it.
I did have the Creative Labs Arena Headset which was the best sounding headset I had ever owned, but the microphone had some issues on mine. That headset was pretty much the same headset as the WoW themed ones.
Basically, don't get your hopes up for a headset that you would like for anything under $75. All of my previously own headsets that I really liked were the $100 USB ones. Plantronics made an excellent set, but they were not the most comfortable headphones for multi-hour stretches of use.
That brings me back to the Alienware TactX Headset. They are full over the ear and can be worn for long stretches. Now that I am used to them I even forget I have them on sometimes. I got mine for free with my Alienware computer, but having used them I would most likely get another set when this headset craps out on me.

I use a logictech G35, no complaints here. Comfy, solid, and clear.

Uh, I dunno about the rest of these dudes but I use one of those USB jacks which adds like another input and output device.
This allows me to run all VOIP sound through my headphones while everything else goes through my speakers.
There are a lot of recommendations here for some pricey stuff but if the headphones aren't going to be your primary sound output device you don't really need to spend that much. I'd just go to Amazon or Newegg, find something in the $30-$50 range, and read the user reviews until you find one which has some positive comments about the mic's recording quality.
I've got like a $15 Logitech headset that I bought on my last deployment and it works great.
Seemed to work better in Vent, though. That cutting-out shit in TS3 pisses me off.

Cheapskate ;)
Mine came with a USB soundcard, and I too approve of it.

The Senheiser HD 202 on Amazon is a low cost but very high quality wired headphones. Probably less than 30 dollars, can't check atm because the crap internet connection at work can't handle newer flashy sites.

Amazon is a newer flashy site?
Just use the mobile version.
Thanks to the really weird formatting... I'm throwing it in code tags. Just copy pasta to your browser.
