Hard to believe not everyone in the known universe has browsed to this page but it may be the single greatest musical tool you'll ever come across in your life.

The jist is that these eggheads got together and created a "genome" project that dissects and categorizes music. Where people come in as that they input a band or song that they really, really like and the project generates a music station out of it. No commercials or anything like that.

If you like a song you give it a thumbs up, if you don't a thumbs downa nd then it just skips to the next song in the queue. You can even tell it not to play a song for a month.

Anyways, the site is tits. I listen to it constantly everywhere I go. I even have it on my cell phone and it's the only peice of software I'd ever actually pay a monthly sub for (you only pay if you want it on your cell, the website is completely free).

Only downside is no one outside of the U.S.A. can access it. Weird. But try it out, I've found a ton of great music on here and they play some really obscure stuff. It's great.

Here's the link! (http://pandora.com/)

I found this article (http://franticindustries.com/2007/05/03/how-to-access-pandora-from-outside-the-us/) on workarounds to get into Pandora. Here's another workaround article (http://digg.com/tech_news/How_to_access_Pandora_from_outside_the_US). That aside, it seems you Canucks are left with Last.FM (http://www.last.fm/).

Yeah, pandora.com is my favorite website ever, bar none. I've found that if you can't access it www.imeem.com might be a decent fallback. It's not exactly the same thing - it lets you search for music and then listen to playlists that other people have put together - but it's a decent site.
